Spirit, the Element Connecting Everything in Existence

For the last month, I’ve been pondering about the alchemical elements of Water, Air, Fire and Earth. Thus, The Cleansing with the Elements Journey was born. I designed this meditation series to help with releasing our troubles and restoring our state of being to peace of mind and love in our hearts.

Throughout time, these four Elements have been considered as the “Cardinal Points” of material existence. In alchemical tradition, there has also been the question of whether there is a fifth Element: Spirit. This article explores Spirit as the Fifth Element:

The Ineffable Element

As One tries to explain this Element in words, One finds that it’s not the easiest task. Because Spirit is to a certain degree ineffable.

Spirit is the indescribable glue that permeates all Life and ties together everything in Existence. It is the omnipresent celestial energy, the sacred spiritual presence, invisible yet known. It is the bridge, the communication link between all realms.

Spirit is the emanation of the Divine, the immortal quintessence present in everyone and everything.

In cosmogony, Spirit is symbolically represented by the monad, the center of the mandala.

Spirit, in A Course In Miracles

Ever since I discovered it, the spiritual text A Course In Miracles has been an anchor in my existence. This text offers plenty of deep insights about Spirit. I find A Course In Miracles fascinating from the first to the last word. As with all phrasings belonging to the domain of the metaphysical, piercing to the meaning of the text requires that we bend our mind beyond the physical. While it uses Christian terminology, which may be difficult for some of us to read, the truth beyond the language and the revelations it evokes in those of called to this text is — well — miraculous.

A Course In Miracles mentions Spirit many times, both in the text and the workbook. For example, one of the lessons in the workbook specifies:

God is with me. He is my Source of life, the life within, the air I breathe, the food by which I am sustained, the water which renews and cleanses me. He is my home, wherein I live and move; the Spirit which directs my actions, offers me Its Thoughts, and guarantees my safety from all pain. He covers me with kindness and with care, and holds in love the Son He shines upon, who also shines on Him.

Spirit echoes in my Poetry

For me, the truth is that Spirit is not only an interesting topic that I love to think and talk about, it is also the guiding force of my day to day life.

Part V. Matters of the Metaphysical of my poetry book Embraced by Love is certainly imbued by Spirit. I feel that each poem is a Creation ray and echo of Spirit.

And, if you’re ready to hop on this lyrical journey with me, I’m happy to share with you all the details here.
