It was in 2017 when I finished painting Once Upon A Time — it felt like sculpting onto the canvas day after day after day until the image finally distilled.
At the time when I painted it, I used to have regular walks in a field where there were many four-leaved clovers, and at some point, a looot of snails, and I just felt inspired to pour this image onto the canvas.
Looking back, I think it is quite interesting how later on my life path led me to the Camino — I tend to think of my journey there when I look at this painting. And I had no idea the Camino even existed when I painted it.
Well, Once Upon A Time helps me remember that even with the ups and downs of life, the Sun always appears to guide me forward — and that good luck is everywhere around. Also — that it’s fine to go at a snail’s pace from time to time.
